What you get, and what the price covers

Bu Panel is black and does not rust. The surface is dense and does not take up water the way concrete tiles do. At about 7 kg per square metre, the roof is much lighter than concrete tiles.

The price indication covers the whole roof replacement down to the roof boarding (the boards under the underlay): removing and hauling away the old roof, new underlay (a membrane that keeps water out and lets moisture escape), counter-battens (upright battens under the panel), Bu Panel, flashings and the labour.

Scaffolding, material transport, safety measures and protective equipment come on top. Snow guards, ladders and new roof windows are not included. If the roof boarding is rotten, we see it at the inspection, and it appears as a separate item in the quote.

Questions we often get

It depends on the condition. If the condition report says "end of life in 5–10 years", you have time to plan. If it says "urgent", it should be done within a year. The roof inspection shows what is pressing.

An honest answer: the product warranty lapses. We have no insurance or bank guarantee behind it today. Two things limit the risk. The work carries a 5-year warranty from the carpenter who lays the roof. And if the panels fail, only the outer roof has to be replaced. The underlay and the structure below stay in place.

The first customer roofs with Bu Panel are laid in December 2026. We post every step on the way there on Road to launch. We will post photos and video of the roofs here when they are finished.

Many people finance the roof through their own bank. You get the price in writing before you go to the bank.

Yes. The warranty still applies, as long as the installation follows the guide and is documented with photos. Your roofer can email William at [email protected] about the details.

We recommend it. The report you get from us is yours, and you can share it with other suppliers.

Bu Panel suits detached houses and other small homes up to three storeys, cabins, garages and carports with at least 8 metres to the nearest neighbouring building. We check the distance at the inspection, before you get a final price. If the house stands closer, we tell you. The roof must be pitched, from 8° (with a sealed membrane under the panels). If your roof is particularly complex, with many roof angles or listed details, get in touch and we will look at it case by case. We will tell you if another material suits better.

It depends on the roof area and how much of the underlay has to be replaced. You get the schedule together with the price.

You might. If the roof changes its look, for example from red roof tiles to black panels, it can count as a facade change that needs a permit (Planning and Building Act § 20-1 c). We look at it for your house at the site visit, and if a permit is needed, we help you apply.

Free roof inspection in Bergen, Askøy, Øygarden, Bjørnafjorden, Alver and Osterøy. We take on projects outside this area too, so ask if you are unsure.
